MEMORIAL DAY CLINIC & TOURNAMENT - 2005

May 26 - 30 2005  Glen Park Rec Center

This year's event was our second at our new Glen Park Recreation Center facility. It was also done in conjunction with the International Association of Martial Artists (IAGLMA) . This year's turnout was no exception to a tradition of camaraderie & fun.
Of the 35 registered wrestlers, there were representatives from Seattle, San Diego, Los Angeles, Sacramento, NYC, Rochester NY, Minneapolis, New Zealand, Victoria BC, as well as the San Francisco Bay Area.
With Gay Games VII Chicago only 13 months away, there was a lot of enthusiasm generated in the strong showing of the teams: Seattle Kings, San Diego Bulldogs, METRO-NYC, and Golden Gate Wrestlers.
The Sunday tournament featured a good mix of novice and experienced brackets, with some 35 competitive matches, no injuries, and a lot of fun. As usual we were blessed with the superb coaching and officiating of Kevin Martin, Alex Ostrovskiy, and Les Morgan.
One of the most exciting brackets matched three of the most tough & experienced wrestlers that have been veterans of past Gay Games and past GGWC tournaments: NYC's Ed Lindsey, Seattle's Phillip Whaley, and San Francisco's Johnny Almony. As expected, the matches were very close and hard fought..
